Clear Creek History Park seeks four high-energy individuals to help bring frontier history to life. We are seeking demonstrators who are experienced in showing the public pioneer crafts or skills. Preferred skills include one or more of the following areas: woodstove cooking, blacksmithing, textile arts (such as knitting, quilting or spinning), gold panning, gardening, or woodworking. Other pioneer skills will be considered.
All demonstrators will work as a team with other seasonal staff, contributing to the big picture of the History Park by doing other daily chores necessary to the operation of the museum, assisting with special event set up and clean up, and taking turns greeting visitors in the admissions booth
Demonstrators will dress in historic costume and need to be able to lift fifty pounds, climb down into sluice box area, and walk a mile in twenty minutes while carrying 20 lbs in the Colorado heat.
Demonstrators must be able to communicate well with visitors of all ages, especially family groups, and encourage visitor participation when appropriate. One year of interacting with the public in an informal education or museum setting is preferred. A working knowledge of Colorado history is a plus!
Pay range is $7.02 – 9.25/hour, depending on experience. These positions do not offer health benefits. The Friends of the Astor House Museum and Clear Creek History Park is an equal opportunity employer.
The positions are for the summer June-August. Tuesday through Sunday 10-4:30. This position could be 6 hrs – 30hrs/week summer position. Some May and a few evening hours are also available.

Clear Creek History Park seeks two responsible individuals to staff our ticket booth and welcome our visitors. History Hosts will handle all visitor service needs in the Park, to include opening and closing duties, gate admissions, cash handling, and visitor orientation. All Hosts will work as a team with other seasonal staff, contributing to the big picture of the History Park by doing other daily chores necessary to the operation of the museum, assisting with special event set up and clean up and learning the basic history of our buildings.
Requires good customer service and money management skills while working outdoors in extreme heat in historic dress. Applicants need to be able to lift twenty pounds and walk a mile in 20 minutes while wearing historic period clothing. Candidates need to be responsible, self-motivated and able to problem-solve with little supervision. Candidate must have personality that enjoys long periods of quiet. Ages 17 and up. Perfect for a college student, studying time likely. One year of interacting with the public is preferred. A working knowledge of Colorado history is a plus!

Clear Creek History Park is seeking a Summer Program Assistant for its “Hands on History” summer sessions. The sessions are for children ages 6-10 and are held for 7 weeks from June 11 through August 3, 2007. (Not including the week of July 4th). You will be interpreting Golden regional history from the mid to late 1800s in a fun and educational manner. Our historic buildings provide the backdrop for the activities including: a one-room schoolhouse lesson, pioneer games and a variety of crafts.
The Summer Program Assistant will report to the Summer Program leader and will help supervise the two volunteer Junior Leaders. The fast-paced daily program explores history through a variety of hands-on activities. The assistant is responsible for helping to manage a group of 20 children each week, leading daily programming, all while maintaining a safe, fun environment.
You will work mostly outdoors, Monday through Friday from 8:00am-3:30pm. Candidates must be able to do the following in 90 F heat: lift up to 30lbs, walk two miles, in a half hour while caring for the needs of 20 children-sometimes in historical costume.
We are looking for an individual who possesses enthusiasm, energy and patient kindness. This person must have professional experience working with children, excellent time management and interpersonal communication skills. Upon final selection, the final candidate will be drug tested and given a background check. Current CPR/First Aid certification is preferred.
$8.50/hr. plus free farm chicken eggs and fresh vegetables from our heirloom gardens.
